ASM Student and Post Doctoral Fellow Travel Grant
Supported by the Corporate Activities Program
Students who submit abstracts can request travel support funds. Travel grants are selected by the Program Committee on the basis of the scientific quality of the submitted abstracts and sponsored by the ASM Corporate Partners. Preference is given to students who have not received a travel grant in the past two years, and the Committee strives to award only one travel grant per laboratory. Any request for a Student Travel Grant that does not meet the criteria below will not be considered by the Committee. ICAAC travel grants are $500 for North American residents and $750 for International residents. As these grants are meant only to help defray travel costs for attending ICAAC, students may need to obtain additional funding from other sources.
Criteria:
- ASM membership at time of application.
- Undergraduate or pre-doctoral student; Ph.D. or M.D. within two years of graduation at the time of the meeting; or an M.D. in a residency or fellowship program within six years of receipt of the M.D. degree at the time of the meeting.
- Cover letter from the applicant, including their contact information, accompanied by letter of nomination from a faculty member on department letterhead, stating that the applicant is expected to be active in the training or degree program at the time of the meeting. If the applicant will have attained their terminal degree at the time of the meeting, the date of graduation must be included in this letter.
- Submission of an abstract for the 47th ICAAC, which is accepted for presentation.
- Letter of nomination, copy of the abstract, and submission control number are due by July 6, 2007, to:

Supported by an educational grant from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals
The American Society for Microbiology has long been committed to the educational development of young professionals within the infectious disease arena. This year, the ASM is pleased to once again host the ICAAC Infectious Disease Fellows Grant Program supported exclusively by an educational grant from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. This program offers ID Fellows a unique opportunity to attend the 47th ICAAC and participate in an educational experience specifically tailored to their needs. This select group of ID Fellows will have the opportunity to hear a targeted keynote talk, receive an overview of recommended sessions for attendance based on their interests, interact with ICAAC Program Committee members and ASM Officers, and be offered personalized attention and daily discussions.
The ICAAC Program Committee will select up to forty-five (45) ID Fellows from US Infectious Disease Fellowship Programs and up to fifteen (15) ID Fellows from International Infectious Disease Fellowship Programs. Recipients will be contacted following their acceptance by ASM staff that will assist in making their travel arrangements.
